    Configure an action

    Hi good morning again,
    as you can see I'm having several problems while configuring all the issues that I need working in Zabbix.

    This time is about how can I make so that Zabbix sends me notifications via e-mail when a trigger shots an alert with severity = 'average', 'warning' or disaster.

    I have configured it like this but it is not working:

    First of all we have created a new mail box in the exchange server.
    for ex. zabbix@domain.com

    Then I created a media type like:

    Name EMAIL
    Type email
    SMTP server 172.16.xx.xx
    SMTP helo domain.com
    SMTP email [email protected]

    Next step was to configure an action and this is how I proceeded:

    Action
    Nombre Warning-disaster
    Origen del evento Iniciadores
    Enable escalations (Unchecked)
    Default subject {HOSTNAME} {TRIGGER.NAME}: {STATUS}
    Default message Date: {DATE} Time: {TIME} Hostname: {HOSTNAME} IP: {IPADDRESS} Severity: {TRIGGER.SEVERITY} Last Key: {{HOSTNAME}:{TRIGGER.KEY}.last(0)} Preview Key: {{HOSTNAME}:{TRIGGER.KEY}.prev(0)}
    Recovery message Unchecked
    Estado Activado

    Action conditions
    Gravedad del iniciador igual que Media
    Gravedad del iniciador igual que Alta
    Gravedad del iniciador igual que Critica

    The last thing I did was to configure an action operation:

    Operación a realizar Enviar un mensaje
    Enviar mensaje a Un grupo de usuarios Zabbix administrators
    Send only to EMAIL (which is the name of my media type)
    Default message Unchecked
    Título {HOSTNAME} {TRIGGER.NAME}: {STATUS}
    Mensaje {TRIGGER.NAME}: {STATUS}

    Of course I have a user member of Zabbix administrators configured like this:

    Alias Admin
    Nombre Zabbix
    Apellido Administrator
    Contraseña (A button is shown saying 'Cambiar contraseña')
    Grupos Zabbix administratos

    Idioma Español (SP)
    Theme System Default
    Auto-login Unchecked
    Auto-logout (min 90 seconds) Unchecked
    Refrescar (en segundos) 30
    Rows per page 50
    URL (después de iniciar sesión)
    Medio
    EMAIL [email protected] 1-7,00:00-23:59; NIWAHD Activado

    That's all the information I'm able to give you. Hope you can help.

    Many thanks!!

    Just a couple thoughts -

    Are you sure your Exchange server doesn't require SMTP authentication?

    Have you checked to make sure the trigger is actually entering a PROBLEM state?

    Do the last two columns in the "Last 20 issues" table on the Dashboard tell you anything interesting for the host in question?

      As Ori0n wrote - check if there are no problems with sending emails through your exchange server. You may simply use telnet to do this:
      telnet 172.16.xx.xx 25
      You should see a welcome message, ie:
      220 amnesiac.domain.com ESMPT Server
      Send helo/ehlo message:
      helo domain.com
      Then set From/To addresses using SMTP protocol. For each command you should see "250 OK" response code:
      MAIL FROM: [email protected]
      250 2.1.0 Ok
      RCPT TO: [email protected]
      250 2.1.5 Ok
      If you have received good responses to the commands above, you can type in a test message. End with a line containing single dot (".")
      DATA
      this is a test
      .
      250 2.0.0 Ok: queuedYou should see that the message has been accepted to delivery by SMTP server. Now you can close the SMPT session:
      QUIT
