Ping command doesent work in Zabbix 1.8

    Hello,

I have an Zabbix 1.8 and cannot monitor with ping command.
    Simply doesn't work.
    The binary is there.

    What should I do?

    icmping error

icmping with this kind of trigger:

    (({SRV:icmpping[,5,30,,].last(0)}=0)&({SRV:icmpping[,5,30,,].last(1)}=0)&({SRV:icmpping[,5,30,,].last(2)}=0)&({SRV:icmpping[,5,30,,].last(3)}=0)&({SRV:icmpping[,5,30,,].last(4)}=0))

Actually, I receive false messages like SRV PING PROBLEM, and actually the host is up.

    What this command do actually?
5 ping every 30s and if all are down send email with host down or what?

      Ps

      Oh.. and PS:
If I will wait 1 month and nobody answer me, maybe I could chose the Nagios solution for monitoring.

      Anybody here?

You are free to choose any solution you want.

        Your trigger can be simplified:

        (({SRV:icmpping[,5,30,,].max(#4)}=0

The command executes normal ping (well, fping actually) sending 5 pings with interval of 30 milliseconds. If 4 last consecutive pings fails the trigger will be activated.

Ok, thank you very much, but:
my command should works fine, right?

Because I have false alerts, and is not nice to receive DISASTER for a principal node and after 1 min.. OK.

          What is this?

Yes, you command should work fine. Note that ping is not a very reliable way of checking availability, ICMP ping packets are designed to be lost in case of various network issues.

Anyway have a look at the plain text data of SRV:icmpping[,5,30,,] to see why the trigger is activated.

Zabbix uses fping command instead of ping. You can find it in help document.

                  Ping - errors

Ok, I tried differed commands of ping, nothing works fine.
I need one ping command in zabbix to see if the host is up or down, without false alarms. 5 ping every 30s and if all are down to send me emails.

Now I have disaster alerts because this crashed ping commands from zabbix are false.

If I try with icmppingloss and the same command that you give it to me, should work?

                      {SRV:icmppingloss[,5,,,].max(#4)}=0

                      This will work?

                        ping loss

ping loss not works with default configuration.. what should I do?
Show me just 0 to output, actually the test host is down and should return me 100..
