    Monitor IBM xSeries hardware

    Hi,

I have some difficulties to configure Zabbix Server to monitor IBM xSeries server (ex, xSeries 260, 346, 366) and X3800. I upgraded the RSA II firmware to latest version, but I don't see the IPMI option listed. Does anyone know how to configure it in zabbix server so that I can monitor all the hardware failures for IBM servers?

    Thank you.

I am not actually using IPMI but do you mean that your server firmware does not support IPMI?

Ah, sorry think I misunderstood your initial question. You are asking how you can monitor the hardware without IPMI?

If the hardware does not support any management capabilities you may still be able to get some relevant information out of the OS using snmp, logfiles or performance counters for example. Depends on the OS you are running.

I don't know much about IBM iron, but some hardware vendors provide the option to monitor the hardware via SNMP on the management board also.
HP used to do this with their ILO management boards and I believe DELL also provided this functionality.

Perhaps that is an option for your IBM HW too?
            With kind regards,

            Raymond
