    Understanding SNMP ifInOctects graph

    Hi:

I have a Gb net. I ask my router for ifInOctects and IfOutOctects using the SNMP v2 template that comes with debian package. All seems correct and working, as I understand the raw value are octecs so If I get 2117042927 it means 2.1 GB/s

And thats its my question, how it's this possible? Because my network it's only 1 Gb/s (0.125 GB/s)

    Regards from Canary Islands

ifInOctets / ifOutOctets stored values for bytes from the beginning of all time on the device.

You need to set in intems that the value is represented as a Delta

Store value As isDelta (speed per second)

This will return current value for you (in bytes); I personally use custom multiplier (8) so the value is in bits
