    Zabbix Agent

    Hi all,

    I have been reading loads about all the different ways of setting up agents however cant get it to work.

    what ive done is downloaded the agent 1.8.4 onto the server, run it and followed the steps to add the server and clicked next all the way through.

    the zabbix server doenst pick it up, so have added the host manually and still doesnt give the green Z under the Hosts config on the server.

    I can telnet into the Windows server on port 10050, however cant telnet to the Zabbix server on port 10051. Should this be possible or might be blocking the agent?

    Its not a large network infrastructure. Basically want to monitor standard servers, lines up or down, exchange and thats about it.

    any advice or help please?

    thanks

    Hi,
    Have you linked a template to the host?
    Can you do a zabbix_get from the zabbix server to the windows server?
    Something like
    zabbix_get -s <windows server IP> -k agent.ping
    or
    zabbix_get -s <windows server IP> -k agent.version

    If you don't get anything, make sure you have the correct IP address for the zabbix server in the agent's configuration.

    cheers

    Stefano

      thanks for the response.

      if i run those commands from the Zabbix Server i get

      "Timeout while executing operation" {2998 and 3054}

      thanks.

      Server - 1.8.5
      Agent - 1.8.4

      I can ping the sever fine from the Zabbix Server also.

        hi,

        ok a bit more playing around and reinstalling the agent.

        if i run the commmands from the Zabbix Server i get responses.

        zabbix_get -s <windows server IP> -k agent.ping

        response = 1

        zabbix_get -s <windows server IP> -k agent.version

        response = 1.8.5

        but still not working with the host on the zabbix server

            Hi Stefano,

            Thanks for the time. Not its still not working. Im using the default Template_Windows that comes with Zabbix and its all enabled.

            swc-srv-ads Applications (11) Items (28) Triggers (13) Graphs (0) - 192.168.1.2 10050 Template_Windows Monitored

            For some reason the Z in the host is still not Green.

            Hmmmm pretty stumped.

              Noticed this on the server log file. Could this be the issue?

                Chances are mysql server is not running.
