    No active checks on server

    Hi all,

    I'm running into the dreaded "No active checks on server: host not found" issue. I've read the other threads on this and I haven't found the cause yet.

    The zabbix frontend shows all my agents are connect ("Z" is lit and all checks are working), but no "custom" scripts will run and all my agent logs show "No active checks on server: host not found".

    All my servers have names in Zabbix like: 'util1', but their hostnames are actually "internal-util1" and "app-util1" depending on which interface we are talking about... but for monitoring purposes I am referering to them by their friendly name.. so: zabbix lists the host name as util1, but connects to them by IP and each agent identifies itself by it's "friendly" name.

    Any idea why this is causing trouble? Thanks in advance!

    1. for passive items, zabbix server must be able to connect on port 10050 on agent ip, as configured in the host properties;

    2. for active items, zabbix agents must be able to connect to the zabbix server on port 10051 and their Hostname directive in their config file must match host name on the zabbix server (not ip, not dns - host name).

    * these are default ports if you haven't modified them

      Simply put, for active items, the "Hostname=xxxxxx" that you have in the zabbix_agentd.conf file on your host must be an exact match with the "Name" you have entered in the Zabbix console. (Including upper/lower case letters)

      If you make changes in the agent conf file, you must restart the agent.
