Email notification issue

I got a problem on email notification.

I installed a MTA on my zabbix server for performing email notification. My mailbox has a function that can send a sms to my cell phone when a message is recieved. It works fine until last week.

I know this MTA setting may be banned by some mailbox.

Now, I checked maillog, so many "Invalid IP[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]" shows to me, surely it's my MTA's IP. I can't send email to my mailbox.

What should I do? Using another MTA?

Bill,

you need to fix your mail environment first if you think that is the problem. Its hard to say what is wrong or what you need to do to make it work with this little information.

So partly you already know what the problem is. Check who is giving the error, what the ip is and follow the path to solving the problem.

To make myself more clearly, in other words, I set the alarm mail sender name as "[email protected]", actually there is no such a "[email protected]" account exist, the maillog I've mentioned last time is seemed like the reply of my mailbox, and my mail server's ip was marked as a junk e-mail address.

What should I do to make my mail server reliable?

Setting up a proper mail server takes a bit of time.... Its perhaps safer/easier to use your ISP's smtp server to send your emails from Zabbix instead of setting up a MTA yourself.

Rather no MTA yourself then a poorly configured one. You will miss notifications if its not reliable.

Our company has a ISP's smtp server, but the sender certification is needed, I don't find any certification option in zabbix, how does zabbix support ISP's smtp server?

Hey Bill,

Zabbix does not support authentication and ssl with the SMTP setting for now. Search the forums for smtp and authentication and you should get some threats with possible workarounds.

Solved.

The most likely reason is that some mailbox have recongnized my fake domain name as a junk mail.
I added the SPF record to a new DNS domain, and set the zabbix to use this domain name to send mail, set sendmail outbound domain name masquerade as this domain name, it's okay now.

I want send a email notification for my user zabbix but i don't know configure the "media types".I tried the configuration Jabber and email with the different server SMTP (Gmail,Hotmail) without success!
I tried too an others service ( SSMTP,SendMail,PostFix,Kmail,Xmail)

There is too,
I did not make a success tape a command next:

"./configure --enable-server --with-mysql --with-net-snmp --with-jabber --with-libcurl # for MySQL + Jabber + WEB monitoring"

There is he a link?

zabbix 1.8 send mail configuration with gmail smtp relay on ubuntu 10.04

I have zabbix 1.8 configuered on ubuntu 10.04 server. i installed send mail with gmail smtp relay. the send mail is working from ubuntu, but i am not getting any zabbix notification. how do i make the modification on ubuntu/ zabbix to send me zabbix notifications
