    Update Zabbix for Zapcat

    Hi all,

I installed my server Zabbix on Ubuntu via the deposits, so I have version 1.8.3 which was installed. But during the implementation of Zapcat for monitoring Tomcat, I had some mistakes in trying to import the necessary templates. While searching, I found that it came with version 1.8.3 and was fixed for version 1.8.4.

How can I update Zabbix? With sources? This will not overwrite my current configuration?

    Thanks for your help!

It will not overwrite your config files, nor will it update the database. Your configuration is safe.

I have a little problem ... I install version 1.8.5 from source with:

        > . / configure --enable-server --enable-agent --with-mysql --with-net-snmp --with-jabber --with-libcurl
        > make install

Taking precautions to stop the zabbix server (and client) before. Then I restart when install done. Zabbix but remains to version 1.8.3 ... Any idea? I missed a step?

I guess your init scripts are calling the old zabbix server...
you can try to edit them and change the path to the binaries,
or try launching the server directly by hand

I used a more 'nag' solution to reach my goals! export of my configs and complete reinstall of my VM
