Macro in Allowed hosts ( zabbix trapper items)

    Hi there,
I'm new to zabbix, and I'm wondering if there is a way to use a macro like {HOSTNAME} or {HOST.CONN} in the allowed hosts on a Zabbix trapper item?

The idea is having this set at the template level so I dont have to manually set it for every host ...

How do you guys manage this option ? by hand, or do you keep it empty ?

    Thanks in advance!

    OK.
So apparently, there is no way to use macros with allowed hosts. the code is clear about that : no macros.

There is even a feature request dating from last year ZBXNEXT-354,
but with 3 votes, i'm not counting on it for the next release

This feature would make using zabbix trappers a bit more secure, by using templating ... I'm sure every trapper under the sun has this allowed host empty...

Right now, I don't see many options :
    • Letting this option empty, allowing anyone to push any data ...
    • Setting up the option by hand on each and every item for every host , which is rather teadious, to say the less...
    • Or... hoping the devs will see that this request is easily implemented and add value to zabbix

Wow, I cannot beleive this isn't an option. I just ran into this issue and it might be a deal breaker for switching to Zabbix from Xymon. Not only this, but apparently we can't push multi-lined string results with trapper items either.

Makes me sad. Everything else is template-ized but not this? How is that!? Honestly, we shouldn't even have to vote for this change.
