    non-generic services

    hi all again!!
i'm monitoring non-generic services with [tcp, portnumber of service] thanks to "JBo" who told me this yesterday, but a collegue told me that using [tcp, portnumber of service] it only tells you if the port is open not if the service is working fine.
this collegue also told me that in nagios there is a sort of extra packets that allowed you to work with non-generic services as generic ones.
i wonder if there is a similar thing for zabbix.
    thanks all!!

That's right, each service needs a specific sequence to test it.

The only way in Zabbix is to use external checks.
If you have some experience with Nagios plugins, I have an external script that helps integrate them with Zabbix.
