    Alphanumeric paging

Having used Nagios in the past, but never being in an environment where we had alphanumeric pagers, I'm wondering if anyone is using Zabbix with alphanumeric pagers.

For most notifications, sending an email to the pager is fine. However, I need to be notified if our main internet connection is down, or if the SMTP servers are down, and obviously no email will be sent if either of these are the case.

We have a horrible old Mac OS system called WhistleBlower running on Mac OS 9, because there's even more horrible software called PageNow on the system that uses an attached modem to send alphanumeric pages directly to our paging system.

Is there any way to replace this using paging software on Linux and sending notifies from Zabbix?

    Paging

    Hi,
I m using yaps on a Linux machine with an ISDN card.
I have not (yet) setup from zabbix, but that should work quite easy.

The only programming work is to write a small routine,
that repeats to send, if the transfer fails.
I have tested already with Vodafone, that works fine, but somtimes
    only after the second try.

I read somewhere about a solution, that works with a mobile on the serial port, but I do not have the name in mind.

I just dumped the manual to TelAlert, an enterprise paging system. I use to deploy it when doing EMS work during the .com. Finally pitched the manual last week. Trash hasn't been taken out if you want it
