    Hi everybody someone, know how to monitoring package available for update on ubuntu system??

    you can monitor a file that shows if the system needs a reboot or not, but without manually updating the package list, there is no direct way of knowing which packages are to be updated.

      sudo /usr/lib/update-notifier/update-motd-updates-available
      cat /var/lib/update-notifier/updates-available | ...

      You'll need grep|sed|awk.

      There may be a more direct way. I know that byobu gets that info and display it without the use of sudo.
