Importance of Maintenance

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask you guys pretty much simple question. So, my question - why is using “Maintenance” important? What are benefits, and what can possibly happened if I`m not going to use Maintenance? Even though I read zabbix manual, unfortunately I don’t understand importance of this feature.

I`m using zabbix 1.8.5 on RHEL 5.5 with MySQL 5

Currently my environment looks like this:
Number of monitored hosts: 40
Number of monitored items: 2474
Number of enabled triggers: 2390
Required server performance, new values per second: 36.58
I keep history, actions and events for 800 days
I`m not using zabbix agents at all; most likely I`m using zabbix_trapper and Telnet agent

I use Maintenance for two porpuses:

1. To have a history of the changes made on my platform

2. For me the most important, is to avoid Zabbix to send notifications related with something already known. It's great, 'cause, after the activity, i don't have hundreds of notification mails in my inbox.
