    Thresholds and dynamic thresholds

Can someone speak about how Zabbix does thresholds? What I really want to know is if the product supports dynamic thresholding, and if not how much work I would have in writing it into the product. I am working for a very high profile company that has Zabbix in place, and want to incorporate a lot of the ProactiveNet advances in monitoring into an open source product. I would also like to know about grouping, and if each user can tailor there personal views.

If there is no dynamic thresholding I would love to work with someone on incorporating this into the product.

    Sincerely

zabbix does have some support for creating relative or dynamic thresholds.

in the most simple case you'd have something like cpu.load>10

in several zabbix trigger functions additional support is provided to look up historical data, called "time shift". this allows you to do something like "avg.cpu.load.today.for.1.hour"/"avg.cpu.load.yesterday.for.same.hour">2
which would detect a jump of more than two times.

more information on triggers at http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/...onfig/triggers

you can also couple this with calculated items to create sort of a baseline and match against that. for example, you could calculate average load over some time period and match against that.
