windows server / application monitoring metrics

    Hi.

I want to get a list of metrics that the zabbix_agent is aware of on a windows server , for both the OS and applications. eg: MS SQL, Exchange, Terminal server.

I have tried the zabbix_agentd --print but the list seems shorter that what I have seen that last time I did this 4 or more years ago ... lol ...

How do I get a detailed list ?

    Hello,

    http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/...ed_by_platform

You can also have metrics with windows perf_counter. Example:

    [Exchange]
    key: perf_counter[\MSExchangeTransport Store Driver(_Total)\Store/MSExchangeMTA Submits]
    key: perf_counter[\SMTP Server(_Total)\Inbound Connections Current]
    key: perf_counter[\SMTP Server(_Total)\Local Queue Length]
key: perf_counter[\SMTP Server(_Total)\Local Retry Queue Length]
    key: perf_counter[\SMTP Server(_Total)\Messages Received/sec]
    key: perf_counter[\SMTP Server(_Total)\Pickup Directory Messages Retrieved/sec]
key: perf_counter[\SMTP Server(_Total)\Remote Retry Queue Length]

A convenient way to get a list of these objects and their counters is through the command "typeperf-qx". Example:

    typeperf -qx -o c:\perf_counter.txt

For me it was helpful because it brought me closer to my goal.
        I wanted a counter for DNS-queries.
This way I can see if there are strange things happening on that network.
A spamming virus will generate an absurd amount of queries and most of them will fail because their lists are outdated...

My problem now is that these "keys" are regionalized.
On Dutch OS's these keys are in Dutch.
I hoped the English counterpart would work on both English and Dutch versions, but this is not the case.

What are they thinking at Microsoft?
        So last century!
You would think they know by now.....

How can I make the server understand the English queries or do I need to setup a template for both Dutch and English?
Or is there another universal way to get the proper key?

        edit:
        http://www.packtpub.com/article/moni...ith-zabbix-1.8

I found some more info here....
It seems there are numeric counterparts....
This is going to be a lot of work :-( :-(

          In the regitry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib\009, you can translate the strings (Keys) to numbers.
