How does the "tcp_perf,port" check work?

Excuese me, I am using zabbix appliance 1.8.4. Now I want to monitor whether a tcp port of a host is active and listening, so I use the "tcp_perf,port" check. But it returns the value "0" for an active port 8008. When I use "tcp, port" check on 8008, the return vlaue is "1". the "tcp_perf" check does not return the expected connection time. Where am I wrong?
The item key I use is "tcp_perf,8008", and "tcp,8008". Are they right?
Anyone can help? Thanks in advance!
