connection problem between agent and server

    Hello,

I have a zabbix server and GUI on localhost. the monitoring of my server works perfectly. However I have another machine i would like to monitor too. I've installed the agent on it and configured it according to the Manual. Unfortunatly I get this error in the logs:

Get active checks error: cannot connect to [server_ip:server_port] [connection refused].

I've been through this forum already looking for answers, however none of it helped. nearly all my settings are default except hostname, which i changed according to the name in the GUI, and Server, which has been changed to the ip of the machine my server is on.

    Could you help me plz?

    Thanks

Well first of all check your firewall settings if any
ports 10051(zabbix server) and 10050(zabbix agent) should be open
Also check your agent configurations (for linux) http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/.../zabbix_agentd

      Hi,

      I'm having the same trouble.

required ports are open, I can connect with telnet on them, no problem. But I dont' get any data on the server, nor do I have a green Z icon. This icon is still gray.

      My situation is the following:

      Server:

      Ubuntu 10.10 Server
Zabbix server installed through zabbix-server-mysql package. Version 1.8.2
Zabbix agent installed through zabbix-agent package: Version 1.8.2

Currently, only one remote server has the agent installed:

      Debian 5.0.8, kernel 2.6.26-2-686
Zabbix agent installed through zabbix-agent package: Version 1.4.6

Both hosts show the same behavior on the server (or no behavior at all for instance) I don't really know what to do next. It's quite frustrating.

      Any help is welcome.

Actually it was a firewall problem. Thank you very much.
