    Web Monitoring

Just cannot seem to get it to work.

I am keen to understand where the web call is made, and how the failure can be tested.

I am trying initially with a basic page without authentication, and get a 401 responce.

I have tried formatting the url in many different ways.

trying a public web site returns success.

Also I do not want the web monitoring to be specifically attached to a host, any thoughts on how best to deign this?

    Issue Identified

Seems like server to client requires authenticated account, even though the site may not.

I am know getting 200 responce, which is good, but the Required is not working. Question is "What is ZAbbix seeing, so I can understand why the text is not being seen?"

Web scenarios don't have to be linked to a real host at all. You could have a dummy host called "web scenarios" and set the hostnames of urls you want to use for your tests as macros.

The 200 response is saying that the http protocol exchange worked ok. It doesn't mean the page was returned successfully.

Have you tested this from the command line with curl?
