    Specific Upgrade procedures

is there a specific procedure for upgrading from 1.8.5 to 1.8.8, or is it just to recompile the binarys & update the web interface files?

    thanks

As a rule you only need to recompile the server binary and replace the frontend php code when upgrading within a major release. Agents do not *need* to be upgraded, unless new agent features or bug fixes are required. The exception is when there is a specific upgrade note in the release docs which can be found here: http://www.zabbix.com/rn1.8.8.php. When reading the release docs it is important to read each one between the original release and the release being upgraded to.

You upgrade what is appropriate to be upgraded for your environment.

One thing I forgot to mention is you need to keep the server and the web frontend on the same version. The DB schema should also be appropriate for the version of the server and web frontend.
