    Is diff(0) doing properly ?

    hello,

dear community, i've got strange troubles with diff(0) function.

there is text item, lets call it "a". here is its history:
    Timestamp Value
    [2011.Nov.22 07:44:23] a a
    [2011.Nov.22 07:43:43] a
    [2011.Nov.22 07:41:59] No errors

i've created the trigger related to item "a", here is it:
    {myhost.net:a.diff(0)}>0.5

the hell of situation is that trigger acts very strange: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. in short, it works randomly. on the other hand, similar trigger bound to decimal item always works fine.

could you please help me with this issue ? Zabbix version is 1.8.4.

    many thanks in advance.

diff returns a value of either 1 or 0

Change your trigger to read {myhost.net:a.diff(0)}>0

      MrKen,

I forgot to say that {myhost.net:a.diff(0)}>0 was the very first thing i tried. Unfortunately, results was the same. I tried conditions diff(0)}>0, diff(0)}<1, tried "change" function between last and previous values - all in vain

        The trigger expression looks valid.

You could try deleting the trigger and then re-creating it. That fixed a problem for me once.
