Trigger references

Hello,

im trying to find a way to define a trigger that depend on host inventory value. I mean, using one of the inventory values to fire up the trigger if one on the dynamic values get through snmp is bigger than the inventory value.

I have read about the macros, and made some test without success. Can this be done somehow ??

i have a hugh number of devices to monitor, and have allready many snmp oid being correctly retireved, and now im trying to set some trigger to monitor connections limit.


At this time im trying to get a trigger to be fired when the connection oid nunber is above a number, but the problem is that each device has its own limit set on configuration. So i cannot define a global trigger because my zabbix will be full of false alarms.

So i was looking for, is the possibliity os using any host value to compare with the oid value on the trigger. The idea is using any of the host inventory fields to store the connection limit of the host and reference this item somehow on the trigger.

I though that macros were the solution but cannot figure out how can i use them.

I though about creating and external scipt to check this, but would like to be done directly with triggers.

Hello,

i finaly foudn the way using macros. What ive done, is defining under the host
macro definiton, a new one that i set to the satic value i need. Then i just need to reference it on the trigger.

Tomorrow il try to upload some screenshots, maybe itll be helpfull to other
people looking for a way to do this.
