Creating multiple items using wildcard

I need to create an item for each port of my switch like "Port *, downstream traffic", where * is the number of a port. The difference in parameters of items:

• The title as described before

• The last number in OID

• The last number in key

Is there some way to do this automatically?

PS Have searched a whole forum for the answer, but couldn't find it. Thanks

i'd do that either by scripting an xml and importing it, or by using the api
