    Can't get a green "Z" under "Availability"

    Hi all,

I have five identical servers Zabbix is monitoring, only difference between them is their hostnames. Servers 1-4 are showing the green "Z" under the availability column, but server 5 is not. I have diff'd their zabbix_agentd configurations and the only difference is of course the "Hostname" configuration directive. Putting the agent in debug mode is not showing any errors, and when I go to "overview" they all have the same green boxes for what they are checking.

What could be the cause of this, and what exactly does the green "Z" mean to begin with?

    Thanks!

Thanks, no firewalls anywhere on this internal network though.

          • Have you enabled logging and tail'ed the logs on the server for a bit to see if they show any errors?
          • Are you able to telnet to port 10050 on server 5?
          • Are you able to manually grab a key from server 5 using zabbix_get:
            Code:
            [eger@zabbixserver ~]$ zabbix_get -s server2.my.domain -k agent.version
            2.0.5

Hi, i am having the same problem i think.

And in addition to it, older host entries keep showing the green Z under the availability column. Although the zabbix agent isn't running there any more.

If I look at Monitoring->Latest data-> Agent ping of the host I can see that the check wasn't updated since I stopped the agent on the host. So it is still "Up (1)".

            Regards,

              For the record:

It seems to be important if the agent.ping item is a "Zabbix Agent (active)" check or a normal "Zabbix Agent" check. See this wiki entry:

In a process of optimizing my templates, I changed all checks to "Zabbix Agent (active)" and that seems to be the reason why the Zabbix server didn't recognized availability status changes any more.

                As tvtue said
you must apply a template on each host to be availability icon green.
