    headache with e-mail notification

    Hi all!!
i'm having a headache at the time of sending mails to the admin or whoever is in charge of the problems when the trigger fires.
i have looked around and i found this thread link.
what i want to do is when a trigger fires, an e-mail has to be sent to the administrator every 4 hours, not every minute like it is happening right now. because if you have 14 known problems .... receiving 14 e-mails each minute it is pissing me off, i would prefer receiving them every 4 hours.
    any help would be appreciated.
    thanks

    Hi,

You have two ways to be notified. One of them is in trigger screen, there are a field called "Event Generation" there are 2 options normal and Normal + multiples problems event. If you select the second one, you will be notified according with your "item interval" every time the item receive a problem you will be notified.
The second option (wich I preffer) in "actions" screen, when you are configuring the actions there are a field "Period", its in seconds so if you want to be notified every 4 hours you have to put 14400.

    Any doubt please ask.

      Hi ro_yoshioka
my original action had set the period time to 14400, but even then i received every 120 seconds an e-mail & it was because i had the trigger set with "Normal + multiples problems event" and as you said i changed to "normal" and now all works fine.
      thanks alot for your help.

instead of continuously sending e-mails for alarms that you're aware of why not add notification unless Acknowledged.. then once you acknowledge the alarm escalations stop.

          hi Axilla
thanks for replying. it would be the most efficient thing to do what you proposed, but i was told to send the triggers every 4 hours because the colleague who receives the e-mails is not familiar with zabbix and in case of an hypothetical case that he acknowledges the alarm he may forget, instead sending the e-mails every 4 hours he will not forget.
          Thanks!!
