I've been tasked with setting up Zabbix at work and so far so good. I've managed to get items added and graphs created and a few screens setup using instructions here on the forums and on the wiki.
However, I'm not able to get email alerts working. I have the media type setup and the action all ready to go but nothing is appearing in our inbox.
I did get the warning that the SMTP server was down on the Zabbix server when we started the VM (we're using the appliance) - I've checked as best I can and have tried to get things working via YAST but I was informed that neither Postfix or Sendmail are installed. Is there some other transport that the Zabbix appliance uses?
I'm mostly a Windows admin with minimal Linux skills so if someone could point me in the direction of some steps to take to ensure services and processes are setup correctly and which logs to take a look at on the Linux server it would be greatly appreciated.
