    Zabbix Watchdog - Reboot Server

    Hello guys,

The Zabbix database watchdog isn't a trigger, so I can't generate an action.

Yesterday the database went down, and we had to reboot the VM.

As I can't create an action, how we could create an action that reboots zabbix server when database is down again?

    Thanks and I love Zabbix

    Very Good thought

We have lost the zabbix db, and zabbix server service many times and have the same question on both of these?

Someone must have resolved this, becuase it renders all monitoring down until resolved.

actually, in the latest versions of zabbix it should just sit there and wait until the database is back

        Hmm

But I'm using the 1.8.10 version.

Do you mean latest version, the future 2.0 release?

          Use monit

Not a zabbix solution directly but I use monit on the zabbix server to make sure the daemon is up and the database.

i believe 1.8.10 should survive most database down conditions. what exactly happened, did zabbix server crash / shut down ?

              No

Zabbix server didn't crash or shutdown, it just stayed there sending alerts.
After ~90min, we had to restart the Zabbix VM because the database didn't go up by itself.
In effect, our SSL hardware was locked down, so we couldn't access through remote access, and a co-worker had to come to the company and restart both SSL and Zabbix manually
