Which Data to Export

I have an existing Zabbix server that has been monitoring hosts for some time - I have built a new server with better h/w capacity etc.. I want to keep some of the historical data - Not all for every host.

I have exported the hosts and templates that I want to keep and the new data is being captured - but I would like to know what data I need to extract from the old DB and what manipulation (uids etc) if any would need to be done so I could import it into the DB.

I think you'll go mad trying to reconcile old and new id's in the history and trends tables between the old and new installations if you've imported from XML. If i had to do this, i'd proably move the zabbixdb intact between the systems, make the new server work right, then temporarily modify history and trends for templates your hosts are linked against to drop older data. When that's done, bump history and trends back up to where you like them to be.

thanks for the advice. It definitely seems like the best way to do it - as it is seriously messy!!
