Hi,
I want to use zabbix with the discovery feature of new hosts to make it easy to automatically monitor new hosts as they become active in my network.
I am using a passive agent for this which is automatically discovered by the server and this works. However, the config file for the agent says that the "Server" parameter is mandatory for passive monitoring (and because of that I have configured it).
However, since the server discovers the agents then wouldn't the server be able to tell the agent where the server is? If I would not have to set the "Server" configuration parameter then configuration of agents would be easy since I would simply use a fixed configuration file for all agents and this make automated installation of servers easier.
So, what is the reason that the Server setting is mandatory for passive agents?
Cheers
Erik
