    Having trouble with W32 Agent

    I went ahead and installed the newest beta of Zabbix on a server in my office. The server's agent is monitoring just fine, but I tried to get a windows laptop to run the agent over the wifi network, and it is just not working. I am getting the "Starting..." issue in the services panel, but the command line says the service started successfully. What am I doing wrong? When I nmap the laptop the port does not seem to be open, but the Windows firewall is disabled. If anyone has a fix, please let me know!

    Thanks,
    - Abyss

    Not that it helps much but I'm in the same boat. I've tried on XP sp2, server 2003 and both just hang at starting. Tried several different configs, even ran the check-config which returned ok.

      Same here, been trying to telnet in and everything. It's just not working. If anyone has a clue as to what's up, let me know. I went ahead and moved the laptop to the wired network and that didn't help.

        FYI. If you download the 1.0 version and use the ZabbixW32.exe from it everything seems to work. Must be a bad compile in the beta.

          I've got the 1.0 agent running with the beta server. Awkward, and almost useless, but an improvement over not being able to monitor at all.

          Can anyone compile a working copy of the beta agent?

            i have the same problem. the agent from alpha11 is working good, but the latest not.
            Systems are: W2003 & SP1, W2000 Server SP4, W2000 Workstation SP4 an XP SP1 & SP2. All german Versions, maybe this is a problem.

              Hi

              Even i was facing the similar problem. Then i checked my zabbix_agebtd.conf file. commented all the unnecessary details.
              Please check if these necessary details are present

              Server=155.66.111.201
              Hostname=win01
              StartAgents=5
              DebugLevel=0
              LogFile=d:\temp\zabbix_agentd.log
              Timeout=3

              Please comment out the remaining lines and restart the server and agent service.

              Thanks

              Nancy
