How can i set zabbix to monitor an application?

hi guys,

i have been looking for forums and site's on how can i make zabbix monitor an application but still no luck. My reason is to make zabbix alert when a said application gets hang, not responding, not running or closed. it would be a great help if someone can teach me step by step
