host status dependancy and trigger dependancies

    Heya

Long time Nagios user, taking a look at Zabbix for the first time. I like the features, but the documentation leaves a lot to be desired, so I will probably have a lot of questions.

Question 1: I assume there is some mechanism in place so that when a host is down, it doesn't trigger all the other events that would fail on that host when it is down. (both the active and passive checks). Can someone explain how that mechanism works?

2: Assuming that mechanism exists, and is based off the "host status" item and related trigger, if I wanted to put in a trigger dependency so that if the router is down, I don't get emails on the host down, and I don't want to have to manually configure this on each host, can I
1: Set a macro called "router" that on each host contains the name of its parent router.
2: Set a trigger dependency at the template level that uses that macro so that for any host, if its router is down, don't alert me on the host down. (what happens if the macro is undefined?)

3: Is there a way to attach triggers to IT Services? It seems that if I spend all this time defining services with dependency chains and rules, it would be nice to then trigger based on an IT service being unavailable.

4: Assuming I cant do that, then next option would to be create a "fake" host that I can then build a complex trigger (that basically would replicate the items in the IT services) and associate it with that host. How do I define that host so that zabbix knows its not a real host, and to not try to connect to it and collect data from it.

5: Is there a way to change elements in the GUI? For example, replace the zabbix logo with our comany's logo? Maybe rename a few tabs or add some custom ones? other then manually hacking the php?

    Thanks
    Andrew
