Struggle with Item Units

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Zabbix and am currently setting up a test environment to see if Zabbix can replace our current Nagios/Cacti environment. So far I believe the answer is yes, but I'm having trouble with one detail which I can't seem to get sorted.

We have a bunch of HP Procurve switches, I've added them to the monitoring, linked the template and voila all ports ar graphed nicely. However, by default it calculates the results in MB/s. I'd rather have this as Mbit.

After some reading I found that you can set the Unit under the monitored item, but if I go there the Unit field is grayed out... (see attached screenshot)

I've done some reading, and the documentation states that I should change it in that location. Or as some have mentioned, you can hack the includes/func.inc.php file to blacklist MB or something like that.

Since I don't feel much for the blacklisting solution I'm wondering if someone can explain to me why the Unit option is grayed out and how I can eventually change this.

Forgot to mention my system and the version of Zabbix that I'm running:

FreeBSD 9
Zabbix 1.8.13 (server, frontend, agent - all on one server)
MySQL

Hello.

Looks like you want to edit template which is linked to host.

I suggest to go to host list and on current host unlink template, then you can edit what you want.

Or go to Templates section and edit template instead of one host.

That did the trick.

Unlinking wasn't required, I was able to edit the items from the template view which did the trick.

Changed the unit to "bps" and added a multiplier value 8.
