    Port Monitoring

    Hey All,

I am looking into for my boss on how to scan or see port usage using Zabbix. Now I am only an intern and only starting to grasp the power of this network monitoring tool. I don't know if this is possible or not, but I was wondering if Zabbix had built into it or through some type of third party software the ability to see traffic use through all or specific ports my company uses. Essentially we want to see which ports are being used more than others. Any help is greatly appreciated thank you.

    Definitely

    This is definitely doable.

On the server side, you can use the Zabbix agent. (net.if.in for inbound and net.if.out for outbound traffic)
    http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/...s/zabbix_agent

On the switch side, you would need to use snmp:
    Inbound: ifInOctets[index,ifDescr,interface name]
    Outbound: ifOutOctets[index,ifDescr,interface name]
