Changing SNMP community name gives error

I have installed Zabbix 1.8 on Centos 6.2.

Everything works fine. I am able to check the details of my router through SNMP if I keep community name public which is the default name.

If I change the community name to xyz it does not connect to my router and shows an error Authentication error. I do not have a firewall on the system, router.

I have tried all the possible ways to fix it but could not fix it. Please guide me.

    Thanks in advance.

if it works with the 'public' community string and not yours,
it's just hat your router is configured with 'public' community...
change the configuration on your device and then change the community in zabbix...

Changing SNMP community name gives error

Thanks for your guidance Ghoz. I am sorry that I did not mention that I had changed the community string of router from public to xyz which is same as my Zabbix server and still I get the Authentication error. Please guide me.

        Strange.
        can you recheck that
        * you get an answer from snmpget from your zabbix server via command line ?
        * you changed in zabbix configuration ALL snmp community items and that they have the right snmp version ?

if everything seems correct, last option is setting Debuglevel to 4 in zabbix_server.conf, restart server, and try to dig through the verbose logs...

        Good luck...
