    Icmp Pinger busy

    zabbix apliance show me this trigger: Zabbix icmp ping processes more than 75% busy

    How can i solved this. I need to monitor 263 devices by ping and only i have 147, so I think proccess is overloaded.

    in your zabbix_server.conf increase the number of pinger processes : option StartPingers then restart the server.

      How it works??

      Ghoz, do you know how it works? how many poolers should i start? i am having the same problem. change the start pollers to 10 and the problem still there.

      What it means "Number of pre-forked instances of ICMP pingers."

        zabbix forks a number of specialized processes, including pingers that ping hosts in batch.
        each pinger has to wait for answers before pinging another batch of hosts.

        you have an internal check (and I guess your installation has already one setup ) that will tell you how busy the pingers are.

        if some part of your network goes down, the pinger will have to wait for a timeout, meaning they won't be able to check as many hosts , so you should have a safe margin . I try to set the number of pingers so the pinger busy time is below 30% in normal situation.

          Icmpping process busy

          i read a lot of posts, articles and i read your link as well, but i couldn't get the icmping process under the 75% busy. I did a lot of changes in the zabbix_server.conf, tried a lot of different combinations of values for StartPollers, StartPing etc and icmpping process still above 75% busy. Does anybody have any more clues about it?

            Did you wait 5 minutes to see if it clears up? You can look at the graph (I attached a thumbnail of mine) and see it drop. The StartPingers is the option I updated on my system.

              Thanks, it helped to me.

              Procedure:
              - changed the .conf file:
              Code:
              StartPingers=10
              StartDiscoverers=10
              Then:
              Code:
              # /etc/init.d/zabbix_server restart

                I accidentally had a item set to ping every 5 seconds. Bringing this up to 60 seconds worked for me.

                  how to clear old Zabbix icmp pinger processes more than 75% busy message

                  My server has no "Latest Data" for this event, yet the server is still showing as RED with one old alert. The event is more than a day old. I've set the Pingers and Discoverers to 10 as shown in this thread in an earlier message and restarted server and it still is red. I even rebooted the server and it is still showing this old cached value. How do you clear alerts in the Zabbix server so categories go back to Green.

                  Using 2.2 appliance. I'm monitoring about 100 devices.

                    Worked for me

                    For CentOs
                    Code:
                    sudo vi /etc/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf
                    Code:
                    StartPingers=100
                    Code:
                    sudo service zabbix_server restart
                    Waited 10 minutes. All Green!

                      I tested with the following settings and they also worked:

                      #etc/init.d/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf

                      StartPinger=10
                      StartDiscoverers=10

                      Thanks.

                        Hi All,

                        I have 1100 Network devices and Server which we are monitoring through Zabbix 4.0.

                        We are monitoring through Core and Proxy server. I was getting alerts earlier on both Proxy as well as on the Zabbix core server.

                        Though I had only 9 alerts for ping. I have increase the "StartPingers" from 1 to 10. It seems to resolved the problem but I keep monitoring it for few days and If it is not resolved will paste the other solution.
