Groups -> Templates checkbox

When you create an item or a template, you see a checkbox for "Templates" next to "Groups". I can't for the life of me figure out what that's for. Can someone shed some light?

Ok that still doesn't make sense to me. When I create a template, it allows me to join a group called "Templates"? Something doesn't sound quite right there.

I don't know if I really want to answer this...it reminds mew a bit too much of the cd tray coffee cup holder stories.

There is a group for you to keep all your templates in...think of it as a folder to store them in...that check box allows you to save you newly created Template in it.

Using Groups in zabbix also allows you to add Items to all members in a Group simultaneously rather than going in to individual hosts.

Ah explained like that it makes perfect sense, but you gotta admit to a new user the UI above doesn't make a whole lot of sense... My humble suggestion would be to change the wording to say something like "Add to Templates Group".

well you only posted part of the screen, but I suspect that's there because this host entry is in the group "templates" why it's a checkbox I'm not sure... I don't have the UI in front of me but you might be able to check that and click a "remove from group" button or something.
