We're busy setting up the latest Zabbix 2.0. One thing we'd really like to do is provide a way to display an Overview (data) screen with a subset of the data elements. There are quite a few items we plan on monitoring for a given group, but many of them will rarely change (Total disk space, etc.) and we would like to display only the most relevant items. Ideally we could customize the Data overview element in the Screens system. Anyone have a method for doing something similar?

I have a patch that does exactly that . unfortunately It's still 1.8.x only as we're not migrating yet...
If you have some php-fu , you can try porting it to 2.0... -
Thank ghoz. That looks like a great solution. I have fairly limited php skills but may take a crack at getting the patch updated for 2.0 if I can find the time. Or if we're lucky it will be included in Zabbix itself soon.Comment

Well I went ahead and updated the patch to work with 2.0. Certainly pushed my limited php skills. Uploaded it to https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBXNEXT-484 as well.
