zabbix read emails

We have a new appliance being installed that can send emails when an alert happens, because Zabbix is the main monitoring system it would be nice if the email could be sent to zabbix and then zabbix sent out the alert based on triggers. Is this possible, can zabbix read emails from a inbox on the zabbix server?
