    monitor vmware esx5

    Hello,

I want to monitor a few esx5 hosts with zabbix. I'm specially interested in datastore usage and LSI raid controller status.

On my esx4.0 and esx 4.1 hosts I used to install the redhat zabbix client but this isn't possible anymore in esx 5.0.

Can anybody tell me what is the most common way to monitor this?

    Thanks! Mark

      Hi,
I've read the thread you are referring to. The zabbix_perl_api_vmware.pl is a good option and gives lots of information. But not the raid status of my LSI controller, arrays and disks.

Is it stil possible to install the zabbix-agent on an esx5 host?
Or is there a way to get raid status info via the zabbix_perl_api_vmware.pl script?

For HP hardware you can use WBEM wbemcli. Read the entire thread http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15691 to get more information.

          It's not HP hardware.
          Mostly supermicro servers.
