    How to check "Last data"

    Hi
In last week, one of my servers was damaged. Unfortunatelly, Zabbix don't send alarm to me. I check "latest data " in Zabbix and last information send from this server to Zabbix was one month ago. Zabbix wasn't check data from this server by one month.
How can I prevent to things like this. is there any automate or solution to check if data from every host is collect?

You may consider adding a trigger that checks for no data.

As far as my reading has taken me this is not the answer to what he asked.
I believe that he is looking for is some item that looks at "Latest Data" and a trigger if there is no new data (nodata) in "Latest Data". Again as far as my reading goes nodata is a function of a trigger. If there is no variable data for a given time then alarm.

This same thing happend to me. Zabbix server stopped receiving new data (Latest Data) from my agents on Aug 16th 2012 and I didn't notice until Sept 20th 2012. So for 1 month I thought Zabbix was working and it took my NAS going down and not hearing from Zabbix for me to notice.

How can I never have this happen again? I am super bummed that my alerting system didn't alert me that it wasn't working. I figured that this would be an OEM alert or Item/Trigger/Action or what have you.

Any trigger looks at "Latest data", ie. the data that has been collected for that item. The nodata function should therefore work...

However, as with any trigger and dependant alert you should test the behaviour by modifying the trigger expression, ie. reverse the sense so that you get an alert when everything is fine. On the other hand you could force the behaviour by preventing the inbound traffic reaching the server.

        David

benjaminconnelly: the system is so smart like his operator.

In this case, you didn't spend enough time to read documentation. Zabbix is excellent in monitoring everything. The "no data" function of trigger YOU HAVE TO ADD is the solution.

The OEM, you mentioned, is standard Agent Template, and trigger named: Zabbix agent on {HOST.NAME} is unreachable more than 10 minutes
