    Database Growth suddenly

    Hi,
My Zabbix Database started to grow and take up all the disk space in the early hours of this morning. I cant see anything that would have caused it, no new items have been added that would make this impact?

I have attached a screenshot of the disk usage of the past 1 months.

    Regards
    Dan

Are you sure thats the mysql-db?

    Use
    Code:
    du -hs /*
To find the biggest directory, and then use
    Code:
    du -hs /biggestdirectory/*
    And so on..

    Sorry for my bad english

      Definitely the MySQL DB

      Hi,
It's definitely the MySQL DB as its the ibdata1 file is the file that has been growing.

I think I may have figured out what happened, I think it's because I upgraded zabbix not long ago to version 2.0.1 and when doing that I truncated the history table so that the DB upgrade script wouldn't take weeks to complete, when doing this the ibdata file doesn't get shrunk so I guess the DB must have grew again and filled the file then kept growing and ate all the space.

I've truncated the history table again and it's stopped growing so I just need to shrink the file (which I know in MySQL you can't do) and then start monitoring the zabbix DB growth and look at what items I have and their frequencies.

      Cheers
      Dan
