Hi,
I am investigating ways how new hosts could notify zabbix server "I am alive and should be monitored". One way is 'auto registration'. However it does not seem to offer many options. For example we have both linux and windows servers. Is it possible to configure auto registration to let both OSes to notify server 'hey, I am windows box and should be added to windows servers host group, also you should use windows server template to monitor me'? On similar note linux servers should be added to linux host group and linux template should be used.
Another way is to use discovery from server side. However I like auto registration better since it is more natural to expect new devices on the network to contact server than having server to actively scan whole IP range looking for new devices.
Thanks!
