Zabbix 1.8.2 Proxy configuration

Hello,

I setup a server with Zabbix some days ago and want to monitor some servers on a private network with a proxy.
I'm using Debian 6 for the Zabbix Server and the Zabbix Proxy.
The Zabbix Server works fine, but I have no idea how to configure the proxy.
I installed the proxy on a system where the port 10051 is forwarded and added it in DI->Proxy, but how do I define the IP address of the proxy so it can communicate with the server?

Hi,
If you don't know how the proxy is working, learn it first on the non-production system (VM or something).

For the quick solution, use Active Agents to solve this situation.
Active agents are easy to implement, and working "almost" the same as a proxy.

Read the doc, how to change typical agent into Active agent.

Yes I read the documentation and the proxy is fully configured.

No, its not

Because you try to force Zabbix server to connect TO proxy.
But proxy (default = active mode) is connecting TO Zabbix server. That's great advantage of monitoring with proxy networks behind firewalls.

tip: The proxy requires only one TCP connection to the Zabbix server. This way it is easier to get around a firewall as you only need to configure one firewall rule.

You should forward 10051 port on Server not on proxy machine.
