Value Mappings

Can anyone explain me how this works?

Quick intro:

1. In general->Valua mapping define new map "Availability"
2. Add 0=>"Available"
3. Add 1=>"Not available"
4. For an unavailability item, select "Availability" as value mapping

Now, instead of meaningless 0 or 1, you'll see "Available" or "Not available" in the list of latest values for the item.

I don't see where you do step 4

It works only for items having integer values. Configuration->Items->Add/Edit Item...

FYI, the mappings don't show up on the overview/data page.
