Enable automatic inventory on templates

It is currently not possible to enable automatic inventory on templates, is it?

Right now I have enable automatic inventory once a host has been added, which is especially painful for auto-registered hosts.

Did I miss something here?

I think if you configure the items on the template with the Populates host inventory field filled it's automatic isn't it?

Sorry for the late reply.

Unfortunately the inventory does not get populated if you do not enable automatic inventory.

I have items that populate INVENTORY.VENDOR and INVENTORY.MODEL, but if I do not enable automatic inventory, VENDOR and MODEL (and all others) will resolve to "*UNKNOWN*".
