Do I have to install Postfix?

    Hi
I need to configure Zabbix to send email. Do I have to install Postfix server to do this? I have email server with POP3 and I would like to use this server to send email. Can I configure this server to send email from Zabbix?
Is there any other way to send email without installing Postfix?

    No you do not

Zabbix is very configurable in how you send notifications. You can even write a script and call the script from zabbix.

I have just shut down postfix on my testing server for a try.
Zabbix still sends Mails, so it doesn't need it.

As for POP3, it is for fetching mail, I don't think you can send with it.
Look at the SMTP settings in your e-mail program.

You can change the smtp host settings on the "Administration"->"Media Types" page. As long as the smtp host isn't set to "localhost", you shouldn't need an MTA to be able to send mail from Zabbix.

The other comment about using a custom script is a valid choice too if you want.

So, if I don't need postfix, than I probably need to configure email client on server. How to do this? Please, help. I don't realy good in Linux systems.

All the e-mail configuration can be done in zabbix normally. No need for in-depth Linux knowledge.
            It is in the manual:

            http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/.../notifications

The addresses to which the mail is sent is set in the users' Administration.

Put your company's E-Mail server as SMTP-server, if you have one. Else you could try the same as in your own E-mail.

Ok, but where I can but smtp authentication? In Zabbix there is no pool right that.
I have mail on server with smtp authentication.
