    Proxy and simple checks icmpping(sec)

    Hello,

We are monitoring several remote networks through proxies. What I cannot get clear however is the following:

Can I use icmpping / icmppingsec on servers that are monitored through a proxy ?
Proxies are supposed to support Simple Checks.

If yes the question is who executes that simple check (icmpping) ? Is that done by the proxy ?

    any info appreciated.

    thanks

If the host is monitored through a proxy, the check will be performed by the proxy itself.

What I do is to create 2 hosts. one real one connected to the proxy (i.e. hostname.company.com, ip Y.Z.X.X), and a "dummy one" (i.e. hostname-ping.company.com ip Y.Z.X.X) which will then be checked by the main zabbix server.
