Deleting trigger in template = host triger

I would like to remove the trigger from template but when I remove it, the trigger stays as a host trigg.
Is there a way to remove the trgger that will not create trigger on hosts linked to template?
I was thinking about unlinking template from host but that way I had lost all data.
