Windows License Key

Would it be possible to setup zabbix to pull the windows version and key for a host? I'm going through our licensing and want to look for accidental duplicates.

Maybe there is some way to automate something like magical jelly bean?

The OS version is reported through an existing item that is part of the windows template. The item is "System information" and the key is system.uname. It returns a text string of the OS and service pack level. You can see that by going to Monitoring --> Latest Data --> (select your windows host) --> then under the "General" category.

You should see like this:

Windows <server name> 5.2.3790 Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 2 x86

For the licensing key that you are looking for, is that contained in a log of some type?

See the below screenshot of the item config. Note that it may be named differently than "System information" in Zabbix versions less than 2.x

i don't know if I can mention it here but we are using an opensource program for that Called openaudit. Maybe you can use the openaudit vbs script for pulling out the license information and send it to zabbix with a UserParameter?
