    Reinstall (recompile zabbix with openipmi)

Hello. I have zabbix installation on Ubuntu 12.04.
I've compiled it without openIPMI. I need to compile it with openipmi and install again, how do I do it without losing data?
    Thank you!

always make backups, (db, conf files etc.)

but I upgrade or add options on the normal install way.

stop zabbix server and agent on your zabbix server host.

just configure with al options you want, then make. then make install.

    it is that simple.

Along with what Speedfight said, replacing the zabbix_server binary does not cause any sort of data loss (since everything is stored in a database anyway). The only thing I'm aware of that you could lose are config files (since a "make install" would try to overwrite the ones you have I believe).
